Introduction
MONITOR: As you have opportunity to consider what we have shared concerning the Body Self, we ask you spend a comparable period of time considering what we share concerning Somatic Selves.
These elements of the personality, which we lump together in the term, “Body Consciousness,” are not well understood, yet are highly important in your daily process of maintaining health.
Etheric Body Self and Somatic Selves
Health in the physical body is a combination of health, expressed in the higher bodies as harmony and coherence, which then expresses through the etheric body. Your etheric body forms the true basis for your health. Your physical body appears to be a substantial reality, yet we assure you repeatedly that what you sense, through all of your senses, is an etheric reality projected as a shadow is projected.
The Body Self and Somatic Selves live in your etheric body. Their etheric bodies combine, according to a plan which links them together and gives them capability to function as a total organism.
Biological organisms have evolved over millions of years and will continue to evolve. Their intricate structures and functions approach new levels of complexity as the evolutionary process continues. That occurs because of the continued evolution of the Body Self and Somatic Selves.
Complexity of Body Functions and Structures
The increase in complexity of the body structure represents a process of expression. Each Somatic Self is assigned either by devas or the High Self to a particular function or structure of the body. For example, a Somatic Self of low evolution may be assigned to one length of a blood vessel, a matter of perhaps two inches, and is given the assignment of maintaining the function of that structure.
Etheric Communication Among Somatic Selves
In order to do so, that Somatic Self must receive a variety of communications from different elements of consciousness in the body. That communication occurs on etheric levels, not physical. The biochemical and biostructural components of the communication process may be physically assayed, yet they do not represent the principle in action, only the shadow of the principle, which occurs fully in the etheric body.
A Somatic Self receives communications according to its sensitivity. If it is of low sensitivity, it may miss some of the signals it needs to properly coordinate with other parts of the body. If that is the case, problems will develop as its function is not fulfilled. Those problems, which are noticed in the etheric body by the Body Self, will need lead to some form of correction.
Health Maintenance Process
From your perspective as the Outer Self, you may observe how frequently your Body Self corrects emerging problems. From our perspective, we observe the Body Self noticing an area of malfunction, communicating with the responsible Somatic Self, possibly stimulating it, possibly helping it to relax, and inevitably training it to recognize the importance of its contribution to the total organism.
Development of Confirmed Body Dysfunctions
The Body Self handles most self-corrective activities in the maintenance of health. When the body develops a confirmed dysfunction, such as a heart with a marked abnormal beat, the Body Self may come to the conclusion that the Somatic Self or Selves involved in such a complicated function, are not willing or capable of performing better. The Body Self, then, will stabilize the situation as much as possible, yet the defect may remain. Over time, such a defect may become confirmed because the Body Self no longer seeks to remove the defect. It has accommodated to the dysfunction and is not motivated to seek further improvement.
Healing through Internal Forces
In such incidents, healing may be accomplished through the application of internal or external force. If applied internally through the High Self, a stimulus may issue from the High Self and be directed either through an appropriate Subconscious Self or directly through the chakra system where it is transmitted to the appropriate Somatic Selves. When stimulated in such a manner, Somatic Selves are effectively awakened out of what may have become a routine. They are made aware that they are in the spotlight of higher consciousness, which may cause them fear, yet will motivate them to function better.
Healing through External Forces
An external stimulus may also be applied through one acting as a healing channel. If that stimulus is routed through the High Self of the person receiving healing, the Somatic Selves will be appropriately stimulated. If the stimulus is given directly to the Somatic Selves involved, it may shock them and cause, on some occasions, an even greater dysfunction. As a general practice, healers are wise to route their healing energies through the High Self of the person receiving healing, thus assuring proper distribution and usage of that energy.
Somatic Selves Need to Learn and Grow
A Somatic Self, who creates a malfunction, needs to learn and grow. In some cases, the Somatic Self may rebel against exterior authority, and its rebellion must run its course. A Somatic Self, like the Body Self, has need to express emotions and attitudes directly. They have not developed sufficient capability of mind to control and channel their reactions. Their reactions need to take place. Therefore a wise Outer Self assists Somatic Selves to express their emotions, even those of rebellion, in order that the learning of the Somatic Selves may continue.
Fears of Somatic Selves
Somatic Selves are frequently frightened, fearful of forces beyond their control. If you put yourself in the place of a Somatic Self, you would find yourself immersed in a myriad and complex set of signals, with communications moving to you and around you from all directions. You would need first to focus your attention upon your primary assignment. If your attention wandered, your tasks would not be accomplished with a high standard of performance. If your performance appeared lacking, you would likely fear criticism.
Astral, Etheric and Physical Contractions
When a Somatic Self is fearful, it contracts energetically on an etheric level. The contraction is caused by contraction of their astral body. The contraction process may be recognized by the Outer Self who pays sufficient attention to body sensations and reactions.
EXERCISE: Easing Contractions
If you, the Outer Self, notice contractions taking place in a particular part of your body, we advise you to place a gentle hand upon that body part. Touch it lightly, caress it, and communicate in your mind with the Somatic Self of that location. Send it caring and Love. Help it regain comfort. Allow it time to express its fear and then recover. Once it has recovered, make certain that it understands that you care for it. You can also ask your Body Self to give that needful Somatic Self additional care.
EXERCISE: Asking the Body Self to Heal a Troubled Area Before Sleep
While you the Outer Self sleep, your Body Self has ample opportunity to care for the needs of the tens of thousands of Somatic Selves functioning within your body. Your Body Self appreciates you, the Outer Self, bringing to its attention any specific need that you discover in your body. For example, if you notice a particular ache or pain, place your hand upon the affected body part and mentally communicate with your Body Self, asking for its care of that affected part.
If you do this within five to ten minutes of going to sleep, your Body Self will be likely to address that specific need. You may test its assistance when you wake in the morning by checking the ache or pain to determine if it still exists. Very likely it will have diminished or disappeared.
Evolution of Somatic Selves to Body Selves
Each Somatic Self evolves and assumes a greater scope of responsibility in the body. The least evolved Somatic Selves handle the responsibility of small groups of molecules. The most evolved Somatic Selves handle major organs and sections of the nervous system. The Somatic Self that evolves to the point of becoming a Body Self has experienced all positions of the body. It has handled all of the responsibilities that comprise total body functioning. With that base of experience the Somatic Self becomes qualified to act as a Body Self.
Outer Self Communication with Somatic Selves
As each of you pay more attention to the needs of your bodies and experiment with communicating with your Somatic Selves and Body Selves, you may search for the most appropriate means of communication. We recommend that you rely most heavy upon kinesthetic sensation and emotion or desire. If you rely mainly upon visualization, you will find that some Somatic Selves will understand your message and comply with requests for healing, yet most Somatic Selves will not, because they will not understand the images you project.
[Kinesthetic messages and images include movement: stretching, running, jumping, lifting, stroking, digesting and moving stool through the intestines, etc. It also includes sensations: hot, cold, weight, light touch, etc. Balance, steadiness and stable walking without a cane or walker are other examples].
The most effective use of visual images involves a strong consistent component of feeling. For example, if you feel discouraged about a particular pain that has persisted over weeks or months and you ask the appropriate Somatic Self to assist in removing that pain through visualizing, that Somatic Self will receive a greater impact from your feelings of disappointment than from your imagery. Therefore, as a general guideline, Outer Selves need to cleanse their emotional reactions before requesting healing from Somatic Selves.
[Effective visual images are affirmative. They visualize the healed, perfectly functioning, light-filled area of the body.]
The Body Self has achieved a significantly high level of evolution to understand a number of words and images which the Outer Self uses to communicate, yet the vast majority of Somatic Selves will not have such understanding. You, as Outer Selves, must use kinesthetic and emotional sensations as the basis of your communication with Somatic Selves.
Healing Process and Coordination of Somatic Selves
If you seek healing for a troubled joint, be prepared to consistently and persistently request healing from the appropriate Somatic Selves.
Repair of body tissues such as bone and cartilage involves a fairly complex series of transactions with different parts of the body. The healing of simple tears or ruptures of tissue may be more easily accomplished. Understand the complexity of what you ask.
Transfer of Etheric Energy
When you request healing of complicated structures in the body and provide your support and encouragement accordingly, the Somatic Selves of the least evolution are connected with the fundamental mechanisms of transfer of energy from etheric to physical levels in the body. These tiny spherical particles represent the translation of etheric into physical energy.
Atomic Transmutation
Therefore, the assistance of the Body Self is required in order to properly guide and stimulate these least evolved Somatic Selves in the process of what is called “atomic transmutation of elements.” The Body Self accomplishes this process in small amounts, much of the time, as a part of normal daily function. In terms of your physical sciences, this is regarded as next to impossible, yet the Body Self accomplishes atomic transmutation of one element into another on a daily basis by assisting the least evolved Somatic Selves in changing the vibratory rate at which they translate etheric into physical substance. These statements may be confirmed within a matter of perhaps ten to twenty years of physical research.
The point we make is that atomic transmutation occurs through the fruition of the Body Self. This means that, if the body needs a particular atomic element, the Body Self can create what is needed. It does not have to absorb the element through the process of eating, or drinking, or breathing. A less advanced Body Self is less efficient at this process, yet a highly advanced Body Self may accomplish what seem to be miracles in healing. A Body Self can stimulate the Somatic Selves to create a mending of tissues, no matter what the tissue.
The potential for healing is enormous, and the key to achieving it is most often found in effective communication with the Body Self and Somatic Selves.
You are now entering this domain of potential, with radical changes to come in the conventional health care system. You, and many others, will find great value in achieving healing and health maintenance by communication with your Body Consciousness.
Body Self Cannot Heal Other Persons
Interestingly, even an advanced Body Self is not able to effect healing in another person’s body. Their sphere of influence is limited to their own etheric body. They can generate what may be considered beneficial etheric energies and share them with another person’s body, yet they cannot exert a greater influence than that at this level of their evolution.
Subconscious Selves Involved in Healing
Much of the healing therefore needs to come from Superconscious (e.g. High Self) and Subconscious Selves (e.g. Male Self, Female Self). They may introduce healing, or harm, through their use of the energies at their disposal. Normally, as they evolve, they become distanced from the dynamics of the etheric and physical bodies, focusing instead upon astral, mental and causal bodies. Yet a Subconscious Self who seeks spiritual mastery must learn to manifest harmony and coherence in etheric and physical bodies, therefore they are required to establish positive communication with the Body Self and Somatic Selves.
Typically Subconscious Selves Absorbed in Their Own Lives
Many of the Subconscious Selves, of those of you present, have yet to learn that lesson. Much of the time your Subconscious Selves are involved with their own lives and tend to ignore the needs of the Body Self and Somatic Selves.
Outer Self’s Role in Health Maintenance
You, the Outer Self, can play a vital function in encouraging your Subconscious Selves to develop positive, supportive relationships with your Body Self and Somatic Selves. If you do this, you will find that your level of health will improve and be maintained at a higher level. If you do not, you will find that your health will sometimes be fragile and subject to breaking down, as conflicts arise among your Subconscious Selves. Quite frequently when you find difficulties in your physical body, they stem from the conflict or neglect of Subconscious Selves.
The High Self normally gives them specific assignments in maintaining the health and balance of the various bodies and chakras. When subconscious conflict is not resolved between the involved Selves, the conflict cascades into the etheric and physical bodies. This often occurs when astral (emotional) stress transfers from the astral body into the etheric body and progresses into what you call the physical body.
When you notice such difficulties, you are wise to explore with your High Self the question as to which Self or Selves create the difficulty. You may then work with the appropriate Subconscious Selves to assist them in resolving their conflict, or in motivating them to move beyond neglect of their duties. You may also need to work with your Body Self and the affected Somatic Selves in helping them regain balance.
Preparation for Spiritual Mastery
As you approach the challenge of achieving the graduated steps of spiritual mastery, you will be in a strong position to achieve those steps of initiation, if you have established effective communication with your Body Self and Somatic Selves. You do not need to know all of your Somatic Selves, but only those who have been brought to your attention.
Meeting A Somatic Self
When your body develops problems and in its own way complains, give comfort to it and ask the Body Self to help you meet the affected Somatic Self.
You may do this verbally or nonverbally, whichever is your preference. If you approach it verbally, you may ask for a name that you may use to call upon that Somatic Self. You will be given a name, if that Self is willing to respond. Its name may be useful for you, because you can include that Somatic Self in your thoughts and prayers, asking that it be blessed, nourished and assisted in its growth.
If you approach communication in a nonverbal mode, you may recognize the Somatic Self by a set of sensations which seem unique to that part of the body. You may use those sensations, like a name, to communicate with the Somatic Self. We encourage you to explore this communication process and learn its practical aspects.
We have provided basic guidelines, yet you need to make the attempt in order to develop the practical skills needed for maintaining your health.
We are ready now for questions and discussion.
Question and Answer
Q1: Healing A Stroke
HELEN: Which Somatic Self would I address in order to inquire regarding my recent stroke?
MONITOR: For the first Somatic Self, you may talk with the site of injury. The second involves a Somatic Self in the region just above the heart involved with the arteries.
The first Somatic Self is involved because it was not able to sustain the pressure created by the second Somatic Self. The Somatic Self of the site of the injury in the brain, feels inadequate and needs support.
The second Somatic Self, who created the difficulty by increasing blood pressure in the artery, represents a need to express despite fears. Its action, in increasing the pressure to the breaking point, was stimulated by your Female Self. Thus you have a collaborative cause.
We recommend that you talk first to the Somatic Self in the site of injury. Second, with the Somatic Self creating the pressure, and third, your Female Self.
HELEN: Thank you very much.
Q2: Organ Donation
QUESTION: Would you tell me what the benefits or the drawbacks of an organ donor would be?
MONITOR: The benefits of being an organ donor lie in the expression of generosity, where parts of the body may be assisted to survive, when implanted in another body, and thus expand their opportunity for service.
The donated organ is sometimes able to continue functioning during an implant in another body. That occurs when the Somatic Self or Selves involved are sufficiently advanced to sustain their function regardless of change of body. Often, when an organ fails as an implant or transplant, it is because the Somatic Selves involved are discouraged or incapable of sustaining their function.
The donor has no negative karma as a consequence of making the donation. When the organ is released from the physical and etheric bodies of the donor, it is released from the supervision and responsibility of the Body Self. When transplanted or implanted, the donor organ enters the supervision and responsibility of the receiving Body Self. Their communication becomes crucial in deterring the success of the transplant. If they can come to mutual acceptance, the operation will likely prove a success because the donated organ receives the support it needs. If, however, their communication is filled with unresolved conflicts or needs, the operation is likely to fail because the receiving Body Self is not willing to provide the support needed.
Have we addressed your question?
QUESTION: Yes.
Q3: Physical Karma from Past Lives
QUESTION: How does past life physical karma affect the Body Self and the Somatic Selves?
MONITOR: The karma represents the High Self presenting an energetic pattern, developed in the past, to the Body Self and Somatic Selves of the present body. An old injury in an earlier body may thus be presented to the present body. The presentation occurs through stimulation of the chakra system, attuning the varied bodies to a particular event, much as you might attune a radio or television set.
The High Self maintains a specific stimulus until the former injury, which occurred in a separate body, is manifested in the present body. On some occasions, the same Body Self may have been involved in the earlier lifetime. Stimulation of the physical condition is greatly simplified in that circumstance, since the High Self only needs to stimulate the memory of the Body Self and thus manifest the pattern in the Somatic Selves.
Both strengths and weaknesses are manifested by these processes, depending upon the decision of the High Self as to what is needed to provide the greatest benefit for the learning of specific Selves of the personality.
QUESTION. Thank You.
Q4: Physical Accidents
QUESTION: In the case of an accident, is it a Somatic Self or a Body Self that is responsible?
MONITOR: It can be either, or a Subconscious Self, or the High Self causing the accident. Even, on occasion, an Outer Self may cause an accident.
True accidents comprise a very small percentage of what are considered accidents, but which are intentionally manifested by the High Self. They are accidents to the Outer Self, who was not involved in the production of the incident.
When a physical accident occurs, producing stress and shock and perhaps injury, the Body Self is challenged to restore order and proper function. The Somatic Selves in the affected areas are given additional support that they may be encouraged and assisted to overcome the injury. They are shocked by the unexpected and sometimes become paralyzed with fear. They fear being injured again, repeatedly. Their fear needs to be expressed, then they may be reassured and assisted in the healing process.
Often, in the case of a physical injury, such as a bruise, laceration or a break in bone structure, the Outer Self can greatly assist the Body Self and the Somatic Selves by applying physical and etheric touch to the affected area.
In the case of a break to a bone or a laceration, the Outer Self may use the dense and fine levels of the etheric body, as projected by one or both hands, as a force for stimulating accelerated healing. This may be accomplished by making slow passes, following the natural grain of bone or the growth pattern of skin. This helps to stimulate Somatic Selves on the etheric level. The fine etheric stimulus gives them a distinct boost in energy supply and helps them relate to their neighbors, thus restoring their sense of order and ability to perform their function.
Q5: Messages from Somatic Selves
QUESTION: What would the component parts of the Body Self like to tell human beings?
MONITOR: They have many messages yet are often unable to deliver their messages because they have difficulty conceiving of an Outer Self. We may extrapolate some messages, however, which say to the Outer Self, “Be kind to us. Avoid overloading us. Help us learn how to grow. Give us love.” Such messages would be typical.
Q6: Maximizing Health with Somatic Selves
QUESTION: How can we maximize our physical health by working with Somatic Selves?
MONITOR: A wise person realizes that all bodies need to be encouraged. Encouragement may be given in various ways. One form of encouragement lies in a balanced schedule where work, rest and play are balanced according to the needs of the Body Consciousness, as well as the needs of the Subconscious Selves. Encouragement may also be given through a healthy diet which supplies ingredients as needed by the body.
These factors may be easily identified, yet the skills of administering them to optimize the capabilities of the physical and etheric bodies are not easily achieved. The conflicts and needs of Subconscious Selves often interfere, producing habits which are not beneficial for the body.
A wise Outer Self observes the effects of habits upon the body and determines which habits are not beneficial for it. The Outer Self may need to work with Subconscious Selves in changing those habits so that a body can be properly served.
Guidance from the High Self provides for the orderly transformation of each body of a personality. It coordinates the transformational processes of physical, etheric, astral, mental and causal bodies. Physical health may need to decline during some phases of transformation, when significant stresses need release through purification. Although physical health declines temporarily, a greater state of health is produced throughout all of the bodies of a personality. The Body Self and Somatic Selves require additional support during the process of purification. The High Self guides the Outer Self and Subconscious Selves in providing appropriate support to the Body Consciousness.
Maximized health leads to the achievement of spiritual mastery, which occurs when all Selves, bodies and chakras have attained sufficient coherence in manifesting relevant forces. Somatic Selves share in that attainment, gaining greater awareness and capability which they apply to later stages of their evolution.
By supplying a balanced schedule, healthy diet, subconscious and superconscious support, and effective communication with Somatic Selves, health may be maximized. The cooperation of all Selves is needed to assist in helping Somatic Selves grow. The Outer Self may best assist Somatic Selves by providing these influences.
Q7: Somatic Selves’ Fear of Death
QUESTION: Do Somatic Selves have a fear of the transition we call death?
MONITOR: Yes, many times they do, because they receive images and emotions that they consider threatening from the Outer Self or some of the Subconscious Selves. They respond quite readily to projected fear by becoming fearful themselves.
If the Outer Self expresses its fear of physical death and moves through it into an attitude of acceptance, it helps Somatic Selves and Body Self to do the same. Attempting to bypass such fear usually does not work and only functions as a form of denial.
A person, who enters the process of physical dying, needs to pay attention to the reactions of the body in order to determine the presence of fear which may be expressed primarily through constrictions of body parts. Upon determining that constriction exists, the Outer Self may offer comfort and assistance to the affected Somatic Selves by helping them express their fears and move beyond them into acceptance.
If they were left to their own devices and not affected by other elements of the personality, Somatic Selves would welcome death as a time of productive change.
Q8: Cremation of Discarded Physical Body
QUESTION: After a physical death, what is the best method of disposing of the organs and physical body?
MONITOR: The physical shell (in the physical plane), which has been vacated by the Body Self and Somatic Selves (in the etheric plane), may best be disposed of through cremation, which dissolves the physical components and destroys infectious agents in order that they not be transmitted through the soil to others. Cremation may occur within 24 hours of the time of physical death or later, yet a prescribed period of time is not needed.
The Body Self and Somatic Selves vacate the physical shell or shadow, moving their etheric form out of it and onward, as they change locations in the etheric plane. They are normally assisted by the High Self in making that change. Once they vacate the physical shell, it has little value in retaining that form. The shell then dissociates into its physical components.
EXERCISE
JULIE: Is there anything else you would like to share with this group about Somatic Selves before we close?
MONITOR: We suggest an exercise that you may repeat as many times as you wish. We encourage you to include a specific Somatic Self in your prayers. You may select the Somatic Self by noticing an area of dysfunction or trouble in your body.
Ask your Body Self to assist you in meeting that Somatic Self. You may meet it and learn either its name or its characteristic kinesthetic sensations. Once you know it, offer it support and pray for it as frequently as possible. When you pray, ask that it be blessed, and it will be.
Notice the effect on that troubled portion of your body and observe possible changes in the attitude or feelings of the Somatic Self.
This exercise will give you direct evidence of how you may assist any of your Somatic Selves. You may use it as a force of healing through the action of blessing, which brings the beneficent ministrations of higher levels of consciousness to bear upon the needs of a specific Somatic Self. You may discover that, if you can produce healing in one portion of your body, you can apply the same practice to other physical difficulties.
Concluding Remarks
We believe that we have introduced the subject. We have not discussed it in depth but will await a future discussion when participants have had opportunity to explore this area of experience.
We thank each one for participating. We bless each one, and we leave you now.
